Join A Reentry Week 2026: Celebration of Freedom" which will be held from July 13th – 19 th , 2026, in
Kampala, Uganda.
Running under the theme: Celebration of Freedom, through the reentry week you will experience the true struggles formerly incarcerated women encounter when they return home after prison. This hands- on week aims to build empathy, boost awareness and enhance vital talks around reentry. It will also spotlight roadblocks in the return path and key issues to solve for smooth reintegration.
Schedule:
DAY I ‐ JULY 13,2026. Arrival
We will pick you from Entebbe International Airport and take you to your hotel, we will ensure you have a meal before you take a rest from the flight. We will briefly discuss the week’s schedule and attend to
any questions you may have.
DAY II ‐ JULY 14,2026. Reentry meeting and attending reentry classes inside the Women Prison. We will also have an opportunity to visit people who are soon to be released from Prison and you will take part of the reentry classes that prepare them to leave prison. You will meet other women in prison
and hear their stories of hope despite being in prison and what they look forward to when they get released from prison.
DAY III ‐ JULY 15 ,2026. Visiting the Safe Home and meeting with formerly incarcerated women.Visiting The Wells of Hope Women’s Safe Home stands out as remarkable. We often call it the Safe Home. It is the sole halfway house for women released from Uganda’s prisons. The Wells of Hope Women’s Safe was started in 2019 with support of Susan Burton. This transitional spot offers a secure refuge for women. They live there briefly before heading back home or building fresh lives after Prison. You will also meet a group of women, under the Formerly Incarcerated women Association or FIWA. Its
a support group for women who once faced prison but now walk free. They will provide you
entertainment and also share their stories of hope and their Joys of enjoyment of freedom after incarceration. Some survived death row sentences. Others endured up to 22 years behind bars. Today, they lead free and thriving lives.
DAY IV ‐ JULY 16 ,2026 Post Reentry Visits: Visiting the formerly incarcerated women in their homes. During this one-week event, the Wells of Hope team takes participants to visit formerly incarcerated people, most of them in remote villages and ghettoes. We will visit mostly women, and Meeting with them will provide you an opportunity to hear their stories of hope, joy and celebration of freedom, you will be motivated and inspired to overcome the challenges in your own life and community at large.
The reentry week is a great avenue for Wells of Hope to consolidate our experience, to share new knowledge and skills, and to discuss key issues surrounding reentry and jointly develop an Action Agenda for people returning home from prison. We hope that during this Reentry week we will promote
solidarity and connect with others in other parts of the world doing similar work around Women Reentry.
DAY V ‐ JULY 17 ,2026 Roundtable Discussion on Reentry.
There is will be an opportunity to take part in a round table discussion on Reentry, that will bring also Prison officers and formerly incarcerated women and participants in the reentry week to discuss about
reentry. You will have opportunity to share your experience during the week and to talk about your organization/agency or your work.
DAY VI ‐ JULY 18 ,2026 Excursions; Possible Tour of Kampala and shopping souvenirs.
You will have an opportunity to have a short tour of Kampala city and also go shopping if you wish to buy souvenirs. This Tour of Kampala will take you to discover one of the most vibrant cities in East Africa. You will visit Key major attractions in Kampala city including the key commercial, educational, cultural, religious and historical landmarks/centers. One of the key place’s visits will be The Kasubi Tombs in Kampala, it holds the burial sites for four kabakas and other Baganda royal family members. This location serves as a vital spiritual and political centre for the Ganda people. It also acts as a strong
model of traditional architecture.
DAY VII ‐ JULY 19 ,2026 Departure.
We will accompany you as we drive to Entebbe International Airport so that you take your flight back home you and take you to your hotel. Prior to that we have a debrief of what happened during the week. So much that happens will depend on your flight.
COSTS
The costs for the Reentry week are as follows and will cover, all Accommodation, all Meals, Ground Transportation including Airport picks up (From and to) and transport to the different areas while you are here in Kampala for this immersive week. (Note: The Arrival Airport is Entebbe International Airport)
Option I: $ 1335 You would be residing at Kampala Kolping. Hotel

Option two : $ 2095 You would be residing at Protea Hotel Kampala Skyz See https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/ebbns-protea-hotel-kampala-skyz/overview/ is a 4
star hotel.
The difference in the two options is the Hotel you would be residing in. They are both good Hotels to Protea Hotel but we would not mind the distance. Protea Hotel is quite high end, it is said to be 4-star, yet Kolping is 3 star.
