Among the children that stayed behind when schools were closed were children who did not have homes to go to and children who were at risk in the communities they come from. Over 50% of the children stay at Wells of Hope almost all year round even during the short breaks or holidays because of some of the above issues; for some, their caregivers cannot afford to provide them with the basic needs. Over 90% of the families are living from hand to mouth; to get a meal, is a miracle.
We are glad to report that some of the children have now got homes to go to for the Christmas break; mainly through kinship under the Family Based Care Project. Before the children went for the break, they received supplies which included: sugar, food, soap, salt, among other necessities; they could not hide their glee as they received the items!
More supplies are yet to be delivered to more families of the children. We thank all our sponsors and friends who are supporting this cause!
