Successful Reintegration For Women Leaving Prison

When Rhitah was released last month, her desire was to have a place to stay as she was unsure of
her next destination since her husband with whom she had lived for the past thirteen years was still
in prison. Together with her two months old baby, they were admitted to the safe home as their former
home had been occupied while they (herself and husband) were still serving jail term. She wished
that she could have her husband released so that he could get accommodation for them and later
reunite with their other two elder children that were taken on by a good Samaritan.
Wells of Hope Women Safe home helped to pay for the legal fees; Rhita’s husband was able to apply
for bail, was called to court for hearing and instead of the bail, the magistrate dismissed the case and
he was set free. They have since found a house and are living happily as a family.
Rhita was able to get a job in a saloon as she is skilled in hair plaiting and styling and as thus can
sustain the family in the meantime as her husband settles and goes back to his trade.
