One of the challenges children are going though especially during this time is child labour. One of the girls called Juliet opened up more and told us that the home she had been taken to work was for a stranger who mistreated her. Due to COVID, her mom had traded her; so from Juliet’s work they would pay her mother. They segregated her and didn’t feed her well and provided her no proper beddings. She didn’t feel secure at any time for the three months she worked. The day we rescued her, there was some resistance from her “bosses”; eventually we brought her to her mother’s place first, where her sister Jennifer was, but while there we learnt that her mom and Sister had spent days with no food, so not only did we get the girls out of that place but we also provided the mom with food.
Juliet and Jennifer are now at Wells of Hope and they are happy that they are now able to continue their studies and are receiving food, medical care, among other basic needs.
Thank you for your support that makes this work possible!!
