Rosette 14 years serves as a housemaid_Can she be rescued .

Mr and Mrs Katende were jointly charged and sentenced to two years in prison over land disputes and theft of Vanilla-this has been the only case we had were husband and wife are in jail .They were released from Prison last week and they found their daughter Rosette Nagujja(14years) had been given away by the Auntie (who has been their caretaker) to work as a part time housemaid, since last Friday she has not been at school.

Rosette’s parents now ex-prisoners and living positively with HIV/AIDS have been pleading to have their daughter back but the people who are using her say they are her masters since they are paying for her services.

Rosette’s Mother and sister Navuga Robinah came to our offices today to seek Help.

According to Robinah, Rosette’s sister, Sometimes Rosette is left alone with the Her master who is supposed to be the age of her father and some days she never returns home .

Wells of Hope is contributing school fees and basic necessities to Rosette and her sister Robinah .

Early this year we had been informed of this case, and we tried to solve it by buying Rosette sanitary pads for the whole term, because she told us the reason she had been working at that man’s place was to get money to buy pads, we also paid for her lunch at school and school uniform, and we thought that was dealt with, but it seems this matter is far from over and there is more to it.

As I write Rachel, one of our Volunteers is traveling to Maganjo(a suburb of Kampala city) with Rosette’s Mother and Robinah. They have gone to rescue Rosette who is held up in someone’s home and they have refused to release her. Possibly Rachel is going to engage the school headmistress and the Local council authorities.

Sometime last year you could have received a story of these girls who share a dwelling with Hens(at their Aunties place), now their parents who have no home have joined them in that house. While they were in jail their house and property was vandalized by villagers, they cannot even go there because the community is hostile to them. Rosette’s mother says now that it is a rainy season so when it rains at night they have to stand up and wait for the rain to stop and sleep again because the house licks.

Mr and Mrs katende have other two children (a boy and Girl) who have since disappeared.

Rosette’s story is just one of the many stories of children who are vulnerable and suffer as a result of the imprisonment of their parents.

Kindly pray for this family and also remember Wells of Hope in your pleas to God.
